Cherbourg is a commercial and military port, it is none the less one of the most popular towns in France. Cherbourg is nestled between a huge artificial harbour and the 125m Roule Mountain.

Cherbourg is in Le manche region (northern France), situated on the Contentin Peninsula which juts out into the Channel. West of the peninsula is the Channel Islands.
